How to navigate the Dashboard Builder
Learn how the Dashboard Builder is organised and where to find the main tools for creating, editing and managing your dashboard
Go to Analytics and open your Events dashboard. The Dashboard Builder opens automatically in edit mode.
2. Understand the main layout
The Dashboard Builder is divided into three main areas: the central design space, the top bar, and the sidebar, which can be positioned on either side of your screen.
-
The design space in the centre is where you add and arrange charts, filters, and text tiles.
-
You can drag and resize these tiles to organise your dashboard layout.
The top bar contains all the key controls for creating and managing your dashboard.
-
On the left, select Add item to add charts or filters. You can click to place them in open spaces or drag them exactly where you want them to appear.
-
You can also use AI suggestions or the chart generator to help you build charts faster.
-
The screen size options let you preview and adjust your dashboard for different screen widths.
-
On the right, you’ll find:
-
Share to share your dashboard with others
-
Version history to review or restore previous versions
-
Preview to see your dashboard outside of the editor view.
-
The sidebar is where you fine-tune each element of your dashboard.
-
The Settings tab lets you edit the properties of whichever item is selected.
-
The Data tab lists your available datasets and their columns. You can drag and drop these into charts to populate them with information. The data shown here comes from your organisation’s fields in Object Manager.
-
The Filters tab lets you add or adjust dashboard filters, including filters that apply to individual charts.
-
The Dashboard settings tab controls the overall look and layout of your dashboard, or individual charts if these are selected.
Once you’re familiar with the layout, you’re ready to start adding charts. Follow the next guide: How to add and edit charts.
