How to manage Lone Working licences
There are different types of licences in the Lone Working module. Understanding the difference helps you manage your account and know what each one covers.
Licence types
Lone Working product licence
The Lone Working product licence gives a user access to the Lone Working module.
A user needs this licence before they can do anything related to Lone Working, whether they are being protected by a device or app, or managing Lone Working for other users.
What this licence allows the user to do depends on their user role. However, any user with a Lone Working product licence appears on the Manage page, where a Monitoring licence can be assigned to them.
A Monitoring licence, such as a Safe Pro device licence or Lone Worker app licence, makes the user actively protected. This applies regardless of their user role.
- For Account Owners: It gives full access to the Lone Working module in Vatix Workspace, including all alarms raised across the organisation and the ability to manage licences for all users.
- For Managers: It gives access to Lone Working information and licence management for the teams where they are an admin. They see only the users and alarms for those teams.
- For Users: It allows them to be assigned a Monitoring licence. On its own, a Lone Working product licence does not give a User any access to the Lone Working module in Vatix Workspace or to Lone Working features in the Protector Mobile app.
Monitoring licence
A Monitoring licence is what makes a user actively protected. It covers the monitoring of each Safe Pro device or Lone Worker app licence assigned to the user, either through Vatix's 24/7 Alarm Receiving Centre or through Self-Monitoring.
A Monitoring licence is consumed for each active Lone Worker app licence or Safe Pro device assigned to a user:
-
Lone Worker app licence: This grants the user access to Lone Working features in the Protector Mobile app. They will see the 'Safety' and 'Safety Checks' tabs in the app, which they need to use Lone Working features such as raising an alert, providing updates, and completing check-ins. The Protector Mobile app may also be used for other Vatix modules, such as Audits or Events. Removing the Lone Worker app licence only switches off Lone Working features in the Protector Mobile app.
-
Safe Pro device: Assigning a Safe Pro device links the device to the user. In the 'Devices' tab in the Protector Mobile app, they can view, assign, or unassign their Safe Pro device.
One Monitoring licence is consumed per Safe Pro device or Lone Worker app licence assigned to a user. For example:
- A user with one Safe Pro device assigned consumes one Lone Working product licence and one Monitoring licence.
- A user with two Safe Pro devices assigned consumes one Lone Working product licence and two Monitoring licences.
- A user with a Lone Worker app licence and a Safe Pro device assigned consumes one Lone Working product licence and two Monitoring licences.

What happens when a user leaves or no longer needs Lone Working coverage
When a user leaves your organisation or no longer needs Lone Working coverage, you have two options:
Deactivate the user
This removes the user from the system entirely. Their Safe Pro device becomes unassigned and available to reissue to someone else. Any Monitoring licences they were using become available.
Unassign the Safe Pro device or the Lone Worker app licence
If the user still needs to remain on the system but does not need the Safe Pro device or the Lone Worker app licence for a period of time, you can unassign them without deactivating the user. Any Monitoring licences used by the Safe Pro device or Lone Worker app will stop being consumed and become available.
