How to submit an update from the Lone Worker app

Applies to user roles: User (Lone worker)

Available on platforms: Protector Mobile app (Lone Worker app)

You can submit an update during a lone working session to share useful context with the ARC or your emergency contacts.

Updates can include:

  • a text message
  • a voice message
  • a photo

Use this if you move to a new area, your task is taking longer than expected, or you want to provide extra information in case of an emergency.

Note: Updates become visible to responders in the alarm record if an alarm is raised. For example, if you submit an update saying you are visiting a customer at a specific address, and an alarm is raised in a couple of hours, responders can see that update in the alarm record.

How to submit a text message update

  1. Open the Protector Mobile app.
  2. Tap the 'Safety' tab (the shield icon in the bottom navigation bar).
  3. Tap 'Update'.
  4. Tap 'Send Text Message'.
  5. Type your message in the text box.
  6. Tap 'Send message'.

How to submit a voice update

  1. Open the Protector Mobile app.
  2. Tap the 'Safety' tab (the shield icon in the bottom navigation bar).
  3. Tap 'Update'.
  4. Tap 'Send Voice Message'.
  5. Record your message.
  6. Review the recording if needed.
  7. Tap 'Send message'.

How to submit a photo update

  1. Open the Protector Mobile app.
  2. Tap the 'Safety' tab (the shield icon in the bottom navigation bar).
  3. Tap 'Update'.
  4. Tap 'Upload Photo'.
  5. Take a photo
  6. Confirm the upload.

A confirmation message will appear to show that the update has been sent successfully.

Tip: Keep your update short and relevant. A note, voice message, or photo showing your location, task, or any risks can give responders useful context if something goes wrong.
