How to set your timezone

Applies to user roles: Account Owner, Manager, User

Available on platforms: Vatix Workspace web app

For teams working in different timezones, Vatix shows times in each person's own timezone, so everyone agrees on when something happened. A manager opening an Event raised overnight in another country sees when it happened in their own time, with the timezone next to it.

How to choose your own timezone

Vatix uses the timezone of the device you're on. You can choose one yourself, and Vatix keeps it wherever you log in from, for example while you're travelling.

  1. Click the gear icon in the top right to open Settings.
  2. Select 'Personal'.
  3. Go to 'Preferences'.
  4. Untick 'Set timezone automatically from this device'.
  5. Select your timezone from 'Your timezone'. You can type a city to search, for example New York.

Your change saves straight away, and you'll see 'Timezone updated'. To go back to your device's timezone, tick 'Set timezone automatically from this device' again.

How to set your organisation's timezone

Vatix uses your organisation's timezone for anyone who doesn't have a timezone of their own yet, such as someone who hasn't logged in. Changing it doesn't change anyone's own timezone. You must have the Account Owner role to set it.

  1. Click the gear icon in the top right to open Settings.
  2. Select 'Organisation'.
  3. Go to 'Company settings'.
  4. Under 'Timezone', select a timezone from 'Organisation timezone'.

Your change saves straight away, and you'll see 'Organisation timezone updated'.

How times show in Vatix

A time has its timezone next to it, for example 14:00 GMT in January and 14:00 GMT+1 in July for someone in the UK. Two people in different countries can open the same record and each see the time in their own timezone.

A date or a time entered on its own, such as a review date, has no timezone and reads the same for everyone.

How times show in emails and exports

  • Notification emails show each time in the timezone of the person receiving them, with the timezone next to it.
  • A PDF export shows each time with its timezone next to it.
  • A CSV export shows times in your timezone, without the timezone next to them, so you can sort and calculate with them in a spreadsheet.

Times recorded before Vatix showed timezones

Times recorded before Vatix started showing the timezone next to each time were recorded in UK time (GMT or BST). They now show in your own timezone, like every other time in Vatix.
