The Timed Alert allows you to start a timer, that once expired, will raise an alarm automatically to our Alarm Receiving Centre (Vatix 24/7 Monitoring) or designated escalation contacts (Self-Monitoring).

The Timed Alert is most often used when a user is working alone or working in an area where they are at risk.

To set a Timed Alert:

1. Tap the Timed Alert button.

2. Adjust the duration of the timer and tap 'Start Timer'.

3. The timer will start and a countdown will be displayed along the bottom of the screen. This timer will run in the background even if you close the app. You will get a notification when the timer has 5 minutes left to remind you the timer will expire soon. At this point you can either extend the timer or simply close it down. See step 5 below for how to do this.

4. Add a Text or Voice message. If you are working in a low signal area, and wish to provide additional detail about where you are working and what you are doing, you can send a message through to the system. This is frequently used alongside the Timed Alert button to provide additional information regarding location and working situation as it means that it would be easier to get help in the event of an emergency. This will not send the message directly to the responders or your contacts, but will be available to responders when an alarm is raised. See an example below:

5. To extend the timer, tap the Change button in the countdown ribbon at the bottom of the screen. To stop the timer, tap the Stop button.

An alarm will automatically be raised if the timer expires. See here for how to deal with a false alert.
