The Timed Alert allows you to set a countdown timer that will automatically raise an alarm when it expires.
Depending on your setup, the alarm will go to our Alarm Receiving Centre (Vatix 24/7 Monitoring) or your chosen escalation contacts (Self-Monitoring).
The Timed Alert is most often used when working alone or without the direct supervision of a colleague.
To set a Timed Alert:
1. Tap the Timed Alert button.
2. Choose the timer duration and tap Start Timer.
3. The countdown will appear at the bottom of the screen. The timer continues running even if you close the app.
You’ll receive a notification 5 minutes before expiry. At that point, you can extend or stop the timer (see step 5).
4. Provide an update. You can add a text or voice message with extra details about your location and what you’re doing. This can be especially useful if you’re in a low-signal area or working in a large building where GPS can’t detect floor or height, but it can be used in any situation to give responders more context. Adding this information alongside the Timed Alert makes it easier for responders to help in an emergency.
Note: These messages are not sent directly to your contacts or responders. They are stored in the system and only become visible if an alarm is raised. See an example below:
5. To extend the timer, tap Change in the countdown ribbon. To stop it, tap Stop.
If the timer expires, an alarm will be raised automatically. For information on managing a false alert, see here.
